Dear Mr. President,

I’m very grateful for this opportunity to contact you and introduce my project: “Let’s All Sing Together!”.

My name is Tomoko Hayashi and I am a Japanese housewife living in Tokyo, Japan.

[This English letter has been translated by my Japanese friend, M who’s living in the U.S. (I have attached the original letter below, as well)].

I am writing to you, Mr. President, in the hopes you will join us in this project: “Let’s All Sing Together!”.

This project “Let’s All Sing Together!” is the peace-focused event where people all over the world will sing the same two songs together.

My goal is to have as many people on Earth as possible to sing them on the same day at the same time. More than one thousand people have been practicing every month since last year.

The actual event date is on December 21st, 2015.

This event is not affiliated with any particular organization, there is no member list, nor is there any money collected.

This event does not require people to attend any particular venue or place. We simply sing the songs simultaneously wherever each participant might be at the time. That simple act makes us feel connected and together. It is almost magical and over one thousand people have gotten together in such a way—two-thirds of those people are actually living outside of Japan. Isn’t it amazing?

The Paris attacks stunned us all. We have been trying to think hard and search for what we can do while U.S., France, Russia and many other countries fight against ISIS.

Instead of just thinking, I would rather be singing and thinking.

If both sides sing the same song at the same time, can we still fight? We would like to stop shackling this planet with the chains of ideological grudges, fears and the grasping for power.

That is my intention in sharing this project: “Let’s All Sing Together!”.

“We are the World” is one the greatest songs born in the U.S. Imagine people all over the world singing this powerful song—yes, your country’s song, Mr. President. Please sing together with us!

I do not collect people; I would rather gather people’s hearts.

Mr. President, we sincerely hope to have your support with this project. We need the United States of America’s leadership and influence. Please spread the word and share the event!

始めまして、いきなりのメールで失礼します
私の名前は林　朋子という、東京に住む主婦です
この文はアメリカ在住の友人（Ｍさん）に英訳をしてもらい送らせていただいております

今、私は世界中の人が一斉に同じ歌を歌うプロジェクトを立ち上げいろんな人々に声掛けをしています

そこで2015年12月21日にできるだけ多くの人々に声をかけて一斉に歌おうと昨年から決めていました
もし、同時に同じ歌を世界中の人が歌ったら何が起きるのだろうと始まりました
そのために毎月みんなで練習しています

組織を作ったわけではないし、
名簿もありません
お金も集めないのです
どこかに集まるのでもなく、
みんなそれぞれの居場所で思い思いに歌うだけです
ただそれだけなのに、心がつながっていることを直に感じます
そんな自然に集まった人間は知るだけでも1000人になりました
なぜか3分の2が海外在住の人たちです
素敵だと思いませんか？

そんな中、先日、フランスの同時多発テロが起きてから、世界中がまるで冷や水を浴びたように冷え切ってしまいました。空爆が起きたこと、アメリカもロシアやフランスもＩＳＩＳというテロ集団と闘っていることなどをニュースで見ながら何をすればいいのかを考えさせられています

だったらみんなで同じ歌を歌いながら考えよう
もし戦う向こうでも同じ歌を同時に歌ったら、人は戦えるでしょうか？
恨みの力で地球を包むのはやめましょう
そう思いこのイベントをもっと多くの人に知らせようと決心しました

1000 people have been preparing for this special event since last year.

We have been working hard to spread the word in order to share this event with as many people on Earth as possible.

There is NO registration/application necessary.
You don’t have to go anywhere.
You can stay in bed while singing.
You can sing with your family.
You can just hum.
